HISTORY
In 1848, Symphorien Dufouleur founded the “Dufouleur Père & Fils” négociant business. At the end of the 19th century, he handed over the management of the company to his eldest son, Alexis, who developed the sales side of the business and started exporting the family’s wines to around ten countries.
Symphorien Dufouleur continued to build the company’s prestigious reputation by increasing the size of the family vineyards, purchasing vines and, in particular, a plot in the Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru area.
Having stayed in the family for more than 150 years, the company changed ownership several times over the past few decades. Impressed by Dufouleur Père & Fils’ rich history and the quality of its wines, the Compagnie des Vins d’Autrefois became its exclusive distributor for export markets.
