Domaine Jean Chartron

One of the oldest families in Santenay

Founded in 1859 by cooper Jean-Edouard Dupard, Domaine Jean Chartron has been overseen by four generations who ensured both the expansion and prosperity of its prestigious vineyards and the management of the local countryside. Jean-René Chartron, a 4th generation winegrower, is undoubtedly the person who propelled the estate to its current high level of quality. Today, the estate is run by his son Jean-Michel Chartron. Being well established in many vineyards located in the finest terroirs of Puligny-Montrachet and its surroundings, Domaine Jean Chartron has naturally specialised in the vinification and the ageing of the Burgundy 'Grands Crus'. Le Clos de La Pucelle, Le Clos du Cailleret and Les Folatières are located mid-slope and receive an excellent amount of sunlight. Chevalier-Montrachet, located on the upper slope of the hill, enjoys the best microclimate. The average age of the vines is 40 years. Harvesting is carried out by hand at Domaine Jean Chartron. No herbicides or chemical pesticides are used in the vineyards.
